Our Bomboro On The River Lunch Experience

The Bomboro On The River Lunch Experience

Our Bomboro On The River Lunch Experience

Imagine, it’s Saturday, it’s 41C, we’ve been driving for over an hour and stopped for lunch at Bomboro in Goolwa. It was stinking hot when we exited the car and after noticing the ceiling fans I thought, ‘Oh no, it’s going to be hot in there!’ We were greeted by one of the friendly staff and he showed us to our table. No, we didn’t book.

After taking our seats another friendly staff member approached offering complimentary still or sparkling water. He then gave us a quick rundown on the menu and how they used local produce and stuff. He was very knowledgeable. I selected the Ocean Burger which was a Grilled Market Fresh Fish, Lettuce, Tomato, Cucumber, Carrot, Avocado & Herb Mayo on a Toasted Damper Roll. Of course, it came with fries.

Honestly, the image above does not do it justice at all. It was the best burger I’ve had in a long, long time. I even let the juices fall on my fries because of the exquisite flavours. The fish was flathead and it was so tender I could not fault it. The beer was pretty cool too. I chose it because of the name, MIDDI-EVAL Something different for sure.

Crab Bruschetta

I can’t recall exactly what my wife’s dish was called but it looked like a bruschetta of sorts and it contained crab. Check out the image below.

She also enjoyed her lunch and was happy we stopped at Bomboro On The River for lunch.

The staff were all so friendly and we could not fault the service or the meal. As for the heat, even though it was 40-something degrees outside it was quite pleasant inside. All in all a very pleasurable experience.

A Stella Eating Experience At Henley Square

A Stella Eating Experience

It was precisely six years today that the wife and I sat down at Stella to see if you could still get a ‘Stella eating experience at Henley Square. I wrote about that in my Stella Henley Square Review.

When we left home on this mid 30C day, we hadn’t planned on eating at Stella’s. As always, we walked around to see what the other eating establishments had to offer. Most were overcrowded; some didn’t seem to be following Covid rules, and the rest didn’t have any room for us. As I was not willing to stand around, we walked over to Stella.

Although there was room for inside dining, we were more interested in dining outside because of the cool sea breeze and its exquisite atmosphere. Luckily, we managed to score seating in a lovely shaded area.

While waiting for service, we wondered what had changed over the years. Perhaps, new owners or management had taken over. They probably had a new chef, and the menu was different from what we remembered. A lot could happen in six years.

We’d only just finished working out what we would order for lunch when the friendly waitress came for our order. We had decided to try the Arancini for our entree, and if you’ve read some of my other reviews, you know how much I love my Arancini. These Arancini were different from those I’m used to as the ingredients included pumpkin, gorgonzola and chilli.

The wife decided on Linguini Seafood, the menu stipulating it would have local seafood, chilli, lemon and garlic mixed in with the pasta. I know the wife was enjoying it from all the oohs and ahs coming from her direction.

Myself, I chose Gnocchi Gorgonzola, potato dumplings with spinach, cream and hazelnut crumb.

What can I say, except that we could not fault the meal! The Arancini were so tasty! There was a beautiful crunch to them and the slight chilli taste added to the beautiful blend of flavours.

As for my Gnocchi, I could not fault it.

While eating our lunch, the wife got a notification on her phone, and it pointed out that it was six years ago that we were sitting at this very spot. She responded that I only take her out on holidays. I had to smile at that one.

Once again, the staff were friendly, and we had a stellar experience at Stella.

Adventure In Adelaide

I’ve lived in Adelaide all my life, and I’ve just had my first adventure in Adelaide. My adventure in Adelaide would have never had happened if it wasn’t for a voucher I received on my last birthday. It was a voucher to the Adelaide Oval Roof Climb. I have to admit; I wasn’t all that thrilled with the coupon at the time because I’m not all that comfortable with heights.

Admittedly it took almost a year before I took the plunge and finally booked my first true adventure in Adelaide. Luckily the wife managed to extend the voucher; otherwise, I would have missed out on a truly great experience. It also helped that my son, daughter and son-in-law went on the roof climb with me.

We got there about a half-hour early, signed in and then had a bit of a walk around while we waited. Coffee was on hand had we decided to have a cuppa. When signing in, we underwent a breathalyzer test. It turns out that any alcohol in your system prevents you from going on the climb.

When the rest of the climbers rocked up, Clare, out team leader went through all the safety protocol. We then had to remove watches and jewellery. We place mobile phones and wallets in the secure lockers that they provided. We then put on these blue jumpsuits and were shown how to put on our safety harness.

And then we started the climb. Heart in mouth I stepped onto the Adelaide oval roof and never looked back. My Adelaide RoofClimb review shows just some of the stunning views you get to experience while on the climb. The worst part was doing the lean back, which I explained in the video. All, in all, we all had a great time, and it was an adventure to remember, and one I highly recommend.
